One of the best things to do to any car apart from the exhaust is the intake. You've all heard the breath in, breath out shit so go out and do it!
Thanx to the design of the Mazda air flow meter, a pod filter would need an adaptor to fit directly to it. I couldn't be stuffed making or buying one so I went out and bought a K&N direct replacment filter for about $110 Oz. Then I removed the little snorkle pipe from the side of the air box and ran a 2 1/5 inch air con pipe from below the car, though the hole that was left over from the old suspension air tank, straight into the filter box. The next thing to is reset the ECU. You gotta do this after ever mod so the ECU learns of the extra air flow etc etc.I know it isn't as good as running a pipe directly into the air flow meter but it makes a shit load of differance, you can actually hear the turbo spooling up and also the waste gate activating between shifts.
